The US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund will increase to $200 millionThe government will be able to pay for the construction of the new building in the near future, Economy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev said during an hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada.

"The fund is expected to reach about $200 million by the end of next year. These investments will be implemented gradually," the minister said. According to him, Hundreds of millions more dollars of investments are planned to be raised in the near futureThis will have a positive impact on GDP growth, although it is too early to assess the effect.

Details of the agreement between Ukraine and the United States

On the night of 30 April to 1 May, Ukraine and the United States signed an agreement to create a of the joint Investment Fund for Reconstruction with equal participation of both parties.

According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the document is based on five key principles:

  1. The Fund is established on the following terms 50/50with equal voting rights for both sides.
  2. Ukraine maintains full control over its subsoil, infrastructure and natural resources.
  3. No debt obligations - the agreement provides for investments only, not loans.
  4. The Fund will invest in projects and guarantee commercial procurement on the terms of "take or pay".
  5. Document will not impede Ukraine's accession to the EU.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously emphasised that All provisions that could contradict Ukrainian law were removed from the final version of the agreement.
